A Tribute to Mr. Edward Doe
Published Dec. 21. 2021, 10:00pm est.
It is with great sorrow that I announce that our friend and colleague, Edward Doe, has departed us; but his words will live in our hearts and heads forever!
Edward’s literary and journalistic excellence was surpassed by none. He was a brilliant writer- in fact, too brilliant of a columnist, well-versed in both thoughts and words so much so that we clinched unto his every word from the controversial and fascinating articles he produced week after week and year after year. All, in pursuit of the greater good of his dear country, Liberia.
While others devoured Liberia through corruption and violence, Edward’s only battle was over minds, precepts, and the sharing of knowledge through his profound gift of writing- Quite extraordinary for a generation of Liberians that prefers reckless talk over thoughtful compositions.
Upon reading one of Edward’s great prose, I immediately begged him to join the Editorial Boards of GlobalAfrican.net and Globe Afrique, which he agreed to do and produced intriguing and mind-provoking articles. We have all read, at one time or another, some of his captivating social and political arguments against both Liberia's aristocracy and bourgeoisie, as much as his repudiations and relegations of Liberian pathetic tribalistic fallacies.
Edward kept us all accountable. He wrote against the faults and lack of patriotism of the average Liberian as much as he did against the arrogance and selfishness of our political leadership, which have all kept Liberia behind- and, he kept us all equally accountable.
Edward has forged a new path and raised a new-higher standard of journalism in our country. A standard of integrity, independence, and fearless reporting of the facts. He has proven that an independent mind and a conscience writing, no matter how controversial, is more patriotic than sycophancy and cowardice.
On behalf of Global Africans News, Globe Afrique, Smart News Liberia, and the thousands who enjoyed or frowned at his brilliant writings, we extend our sincere gratitude to you Edward, and expand our deepest condolences to your beloved family.
Edward, Your Work Lives On!
Sincerely,
Alex Jones, CEO
